Dr. Martin earned a bachelor of science in pre-medicine at Penn State and a medical doctorate at Penn State’s College of Medicine. He completed an orthopedic residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals Clinics and an orthopedic sports medicine fellowship at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama. At the Institute, Dr. Martin worked with national experts to improve the understanding, prevention and treatment of sports-related injuries through research and education.
Dr. Martin’s dedication to orthopedics and sports medicine began when he was an elite student-athlete at Penn State. As an undergraduate student, he was the 1988 NCAA Wrestling Champion, a four-time wrestling All-American, and he was honored as the top male athlete in the country for two consecutive years while at Penn State. This experience shaped his view of the musculoskeletal system, its capabilities and ability to regenerate.
