The 26,000 square foot pavilion, funded in part by $5 million in philanthropic support, first opened its doors to patients on September 4, 2019. Constructed directly above the Medical Center's emergency department, the pavilion is equipped with precise, industry-leading technologies within a space designed for physical and emotional healing. With the patient experience in mind, the pavilion features updated cardiac Cardiovascular Pavilion catheterization lab and electrophysiology lab spaces, complete with new imaging and monitoring equipment.
Alexander Building Construction Co., A Butz family company and the construction manager on the project and JPT Architects, were awarded a 2020 Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) National Project Achievement Award for their work on the pavilion. "We value our long working relationship with Mount Nittany and are excited to receive an award for the Cardiovascular Pavilion project," said Doug Workman, General Manager of Alexander's State College office.
Cardiovascular services at Mount Nittany Health, including the IAC-accredited echocardiography lab, are provided by a team of staff, nurses, technologists, physicians, and dedicated cardiologists from Mount Nittany Physician Group, Geisinger, and Penn State Health.
