  • Sign up now for your COVID-19 vaccine from Mount Nittany Health

    Sign up now

    All Pennsylvanians ages 12 and older eligible to schedule their vaccination appointments – 12 to 17-year-olds are currently eligible for the Pfizer vaccine. We strongly encourage everyone that is eligible to sign up for a vaccine as soon as possible.

    Parents/guardians may register for a Pfizer vaccine for 12-17, and must be present at the time of the vaccine being administered to a minor. Someone needs to be recovered from the virus to get the vaccine. If the child was infected with COVID-19, parents/guardian should wait 90 days post-virus to schedule the vaccine. 

    ​To register for the vaccine, click “Sign up now” and complete the form at your convenience. You do not need to be a Mount Nittany Health patient to request an appointment, and there is no out-of-pocket cost for the vaccine. We will contact you with your appointment date and time.

  • Mount Nittany Health visitor policy
    Masking is required for all visitors and caregivers, as well as the patients they are visiting or accompanying, during the time of the visit.

    Beginning Monday, May 17, 2021, Mount Nittany Health will allow one visitor per inpatient at Mount Nittany Medical Center during visiting hours, 2:00 – 6:00 pm daily. Please note the behavioral health unit has not yet resumed patient visitation.

    Additionally, one support person/caregiver may accompany patients of the emergency department at the Medical Center, Mount Nittany Physician Group, Mount Nittany Health Surgical Center, CANCER CARE PARTNERSHIP, and outpatient Medical Center locations. The women & children’s services department at the Medical Center will continue its practice of permitting one support person to accompany the patient. For outpatient and surgical procedures, caregivers will be asked to wait in their vehicle, but may be with the patient until the start of the procedure and assist with discharge instructions. Please be aware, there may be other select circumstances where caregivers are asked to wait in their vehicles.

Volunteering for COVID vaccine clinics

Mount Nittany Health is looking for volunteers in the community, including active or retired licensed healthcare professionals, such as nurses, pharmacists, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, nursing students and medical students, to help administer COVID-19 vaccines at Mount Nittany Health vaccine clinics.

We are committed to administering the COVID-19 vaccine to our community as quickly as supplies are made available. We need your help to continue our COVID-19 vaccination efforts. If you are interested, please visit our COVID vaccination volunteer page to see if you are eligible and to apply.

Weekly COVID-19 update

August 6

Today, August 6, we are caring for 11 COVID positive inpatients at Mount Nittany Medical Center, ranging in age from 42 to 88. In July, we had 37 COVID positive admissions at the Medical Center with an average daily census of 6. Since July 23, our average daily census has steadily increased to 10.

Send a message to our healthcare workers

You can share your support for our doctors, nurses and hospital staff during this unprecedented time via our virtual gratitude website, courageousatheart.org. The virtual gratitude board allows community members to post their notes, images and videos of encouragement and thanks to our staff. Viewers can also share posts on the board with popular social media sites, like Facebook and Instagram.

Policies and practices for COVID-19

At Mount Nittany Health, the safety of our patients and staff is always our priority. Our COVID-19 policies and practices are updated as we see changes to conditions in the community and in CDC and DOH guidelines for the care, safety and placement of our patients. These are some of our current practices:

  • COVID testing is required of patients three days prior to surgery.
  • COVID testing is required of women preparing to deliver a baby.
  • All patients will be screened for COVID-19, which includes a temperature check, including patients admitted to the hospital.
  • We have policies in place regarding room assignments of COVID-positive inpatients.
    • Patients hospitalized with COVID-19 are assigned a room based on a combination of factors following CDC and DOH guidelines.
    • No visitors are allowed to visit patients hospitalized with COVID-19.
    • Single-patient room placement is prioritized for our inpatients whenever possible; however, a hospitalized COVID-19 patient may be roomed with another patient confirmed to also have COVID-19.
  • For the safety of our patients and staff, all patients and visitors are required to wear masks.

Patient visitation is temporarily suspended at all Mount Nittany Health locations until further notice.
