Mount Nittany Health gastroenterologist shares the best part of being a doctor

Mount Nittany Health is pleased to have Qasim Salimi, MD, Mount Nittany Physician Group Gastroenterology, as one of our providers dedicated to providing outstanding care to our patients.

Dr. Salimi earned his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and molecular biology, with a minor in sociology, from Boston University and his medical degree from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Piscataway, New Jersey. He completed his internal medicine residency from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and his gastroenterology fellowship from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, Newark, New Jersey. Dr. Salimi is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Salimi is committed to helping our community by working with patients to provide them with the information and quality care they need. “I work with my patients to find the best care for them. I find that it is important to communicate effectively with patients and they appreciate that in addition to being key players in determining the best approach to their treatment,” shares Dr. Salimi.

“As a healthcare provider, I am inspired to help as many patients as I can and do good for humanity. Many people are suffering from various diseases and we have a duty to help them,” states Dr. Salimi. “Seeing my patients feel better after being treated is a good feeling. This is one of the best parts about being a physician.”

Dr. Salimi has been a part of Mount Nittany Physician Group Gastroenterology for over one year. “Mount Nittany Physician Group has been very welcoming and kind from the start,” shares Dr. Salimi. “Mount Nittany Physician Group has an effective and collegial work environment that seeks to help its physicians deliver the best care. I like the ability of the physicians and staff to work effectively as a team. Everyone in the gastroenterology office and endoscopy suite are dedicated to providing excellent patient care.”

Dr. Salimi is passionate about the field of gastroenterology. “As a gastroenterology provider, I enjoy the variety of disease that you encounter in the field. Additionally, performing both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as well as diagnosing disease in the office setting is a nice balance,” shares Dr. Salimi.

Outside of work, he loves spending time with his wife and daughter. He enjoys living and working in central Pennsylvania. “I appreciate the peacefulness of the area, as well as enjoy the outdoor activities available, such as parks and hiking trails. It is a very family friendly environment,” says Dr. Salimi. He also loves playing and watching sports, he particularly enjoys watching the NFL and NBA.
