Surgeries at Mount Nittany Medical Center

Mount Nittany Medical Center offers six operating room suites, and our surgical services department is staffed by highly trained, registered nurses and technicians, often certified in individualized specialties.

  • Our ambulatory services unit uses modern technology to assist patients needing same-day surgery and/or same-day admission. The unit also provides care to patients requiring outpatient medication or blood products.

  • The IV team is a group of highly trained nurses that provide intravenous treatments, including chemotherapy, blood administration and lifesaving antibiotics.

  • The post-anesthesia care unit (PACU), also known as the recovery room, provides optimal care directly after surgery. Registered nurses, most of whom are certified in post-anesthesia nursing, work under the guidance of the anesthesiologist and surgeon. The goal of the PACU nurse is to help the patient become ready for discharge to the intensive care unit, surgical or medical floor or to return home.
