Nirmal Joshi, MD, FACP, chief medical officer, Mount Nittany Health, and Tiffany Cabibbo, DSc, MSN, RN, CENP executive vice president and chief nursing officer, Mount Nittany Health, join 400 physician and nurse leaders from around the Commonwealth urging residents to do all they can to stop the spread of COVID-19.

In a letter released by the Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) amid surging COVID-19 cases, these clinical leaders share an important message about the role you can play in slowing the spread of the virus. HAP shares:

“Here is what we need you to do:

Follow public health precautions: wear a mask, stay at least six feet apart, avoid crowds, and frequently wash your hands

Do not wait to talk with your doctor or care provider if you are ill or think you may have been exposed to COVID-19, and follow the advice to isolate or quarantine

If you have not already done so, get your flu shot

As much as we yearn to gather together with family and friends over the holidays, small gatherings are contributing to the rise in COVID-19 cases. We must take smart steps to reduce the risk—this year, please do not travel, and limit your gathering to your household

We will get through this together, but our success depends on our individual decisions and actions to help prevent more illness and hospitalization, and to support our dedicated health care staff as they continue to treat every patient who needs their care. One person's actions make a small difference; many people together can make a huge impact. Please help us protect each other, our families, neighbors, and communities. Stay safe.”
