Mount Nittany Health is pleased to announce the addition of spine surgeon, Aidin Kashigar, MD, FRCSC, to Mount Nittany Physician Group Orthopedics.
“With each clinical encounter, my goals are to maximize my patient’s quality of life and spine health through the least invasive treatment possible,” says Dr. Kashigar. “The most rewarding aspect of this specialty is the opportunity to enable my patients to recover quickly from their spine pathology and return back to enjoying their life.”
Dr. Kashigar earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Waterloo where he graduated with distinction and honors. He earned his medical degree from the University of Toronto, receiving the Golden Stethoscope Award for his clinical and interpersonal skills with his patients. Dr. Kashigar completed his surgical residency in orthopedic surgery at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, serving as Chief Resident of Orthopedic Surgery during his last year of residency. He subspecialized in spine surgery by completing the prestigious combined neurosurgery and orthopedic fellowship in adult and pediatric spine surgery at Norton Leatherman Spine Center in Louisville, Kentucky.
As a fellowship-trained spine surgeon, Dr. Kashigar has expertise in care for the entire spine, ranging from minimally invasive procedures to complex spine surgeries, including deformity correction and revision procedures. He has presented at numerous national and international conferences, discussing evidence-based medicine and the latest in orthopedics and spine care.
Dr Kashigar is board certified in orthopedic surgery by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and board eligible in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
